Well, Obe Wan is convinced the Zombie Apocalypse is around the corner. We must PREPARE. Now, mind you, the kid does not eat vegetables, but he has decided we need a garden, so we will have our own food. When we lived down the street from Windy Knoll Tree Farm this was not a concern for him as his grandparents (mainly his Mimi) will cook for him all day and every day, but now that we do not have a Mimi who owns a bar & grill (according to her grandsons) we need to prepare.

Planting our seedlings |
Each boy got to select three veggies of his choice and plant a row. They had to create an opening and place two seeds in each whole. Then they had to cover it with the pellet dirt. You would have thought I had asked them to do something difficult. PLAY IN DIRT. PLANT A SEED. OMG. They moaned, complained and wanted nothing to do with this activity until I brought out the baby spoons to use as shovels. They thought for sure they were their Wichita cousins' spoons, but I reassured them, they were their spoons from when they were babies and I was saving them for my grandkids. Obe Wan decided to plant tomatoes, peppers and peas. J-Bird went with cucumbers, zucchini (for bread) and green beans. This should be a fun experiment. I am okay if I have to go to Lowe's and buy plants. It was fun to make them do this AND it was Obe Wan's idea in the first place!

Before we started playing in the dirt |
Our weather is starting to warm up. Today was 72. I think the ground is almost to a consistent 50 degrees. Time to start planting!
