Prince Charming has really gotten into RC planes. We bought this large one for him for Father's Day last year. We have over an acre on the Knob and it is free of trees. Well, sorta. Around our house and the lake there aren't a lot of trees. Down at the end of the block there are trees.
I was down at the end of block--referenced in the above paragraph--visiting with the neighbors. We were all watching Prince Charming's plane and I was bragging how he is a pro at flying it. At about this time the plane comes by and hits a TREE. I'm not even kidding you! We heard the nice roar of the engines and all heads were turned to watch the gliding machine as it heads straight into the trees and goes EERILY silent.
So much for good flying. It was stuck. Hard core stuck. It was sad to look up into the tree and think of the money just stuck there. As it was evening and it was a school day, we all wandered back to our respective homes. We were assured our neighbors would check on it and it would eventually come crashing down.
Not more than a week later we got a dozy of a storm on the Knob. Horrible winds. Horrible sideways rain. I was at the dentist when this storm came upon us and had left my windows and sunroof open. IT WAS BLAZING hot when I went into the dentist. Not a glimmer of a storm on the forecast. I was so upset about my BOAT I didn't even think about how the plane would exit the tree.
I got a text from the neighbor. I drove the boat home and got our plane. My rear was soaked. My headliner in my car is still damp. Thank Goodness I have rubber mats in my car and they were easy to drain away. The car is fine. The plane has new parts. All is good once again on the Knobs.
